Our Shop Projects
1956 XK140 Roadster

Our customer [Scott] began this '56 XK140 roadster project with only a frame and an engine. He asked us to find and build a body for him.

With only 3281 left-hand drive XK140 roadsters leaving the factory, this is a rare old car. Usable spare body parts will be very tough to find and will make this a challenging restoration.

This is an ongoing project and will be on documented on this website over the next 6-8 months.

Page Summary:
Pictured here is the rear clip we found in Michigan. It had to be straightened and a panel welded into the rear deck area where we cut out the damaged area. The clip was then sandblasted. We bought a used boot lid and fit it to the rear clip. Next, we located 1&1/2 rear fenders and a dog leg and fit them to the clip. Metal patches on the fenders were welded in where needed followed by a thorough sandblasting.

A special Thank You to Mike Muller in Austin Texas for helping us locate some very difficult-to-find parts for this car, including:

  • rear clip,
  • front clip,
  • right door,
  • rear skirts,
  • and many other parts.
